Rex Hunt says “Triple M Rocks Football” as he signs on for another 12 months

Although several years older than Triple M’s core demographic, the previously long time anchor of 3AW’s AFL team, Rex Hunt, has helped lift the under 55 audience at Triple M in his first year with the Melbourne station.

The veteran caller says, “It is very exciting at my age, 61, to be working with the best young talent in the football media. To be accepted as part of the team is a highlight of my career.”

He says that although it took him a while to settle in, he now feels he belongs, “When my broadcasting career was resurrected by Triple M I felt pressure on me like never before.  It was not the pressure of failing or succeeding.  It was the pressure of letting those people who gave me the chance, down.  I trust that those people are now happy that I have been given an extension to my agreement.

Apparently the people who backed him are happy too. Austereo’s Melbourne GM, Ben Amarfio says of the most recent Nielsen book, “Triple M (is) the only footy station to deliver gains in every session. Triple M delivers double and often triple its competitors share for all people under 55. For this demo we have also won a staggering 93 consecutive football survey sessions (Friday Night, Saturday Afternoon, Saturday Night and Sunday Afternoon)”
