Since River 94.9 began broadcasting to SE Queensland in 1990, the area has seen a lot of change, and growth.

The station had solely broadcast out of their studio and office in North Ipswich. But, with the expansion of the region, it was felt that a second base-of-operations within the city’s fast-growing area of Springfield would be ideal to continue best serving the people and businesses of the region.

River 94.9 General Manager, David Wiltshire said:

“We love getting out and about in our wide coverage area and our new Springfield studio is a great way to continue doing that. It gives us a face-to-face presence and the chance to host fun promotions, giveaways and interviews with listeners and locals.”

An empty store front within Springfield Orion Shopping Centre was refurbished to accommodate all the necessary gear, and doubles as a convenient meeting space for Sales staff and local clients.

Featuring the latest broadcast technology, the new studio gives announcers full control over their programs with no requirement for a panel operator back in North Ipswich.

River 949 Springfield studio launch with Marnie and Campo

The new River 94.9 Springfield Studios were officially launched on Monday August 21 with 12 hours of live broadcasting from the new location, starting with the Breakfast Show of Marnie & Campo from 5am.

River will aim to do at least one daytime show live from the Springfield Studio every weekday and the occasional Saturday breakfast show, the Saturday Start Up.
