Rod Quinn and Michael Pavlich both depart ABC Radio Overnights

At 5am on Easter Saturday morning April 4, ABC Radio Overnights presenter Michael Pavlich (pictured) made an announcement about his and Rod Quinn‘s futures on the program.

Rod had been on long service leave for a year now with Michael looking after things for the duration. Rod (now Michael) hosted Friday to Sundays from 2am to 6am, with Trevor Chappell doing Monday to Thursday. Michael had previously covered for Trevor when he moved to ABC Radio Melbourne Afternoons for around 18 months.

Initially Rod was to return to overnights at the start of this year but follow ups by Radioinfo and listeners led nowhere. Then he popped up covering for Philip Clarke leading listeners to believe that the overnights return was imminent. However, through a recorded message shared via Michael, Rod said he wasn’t going to return to overnights after 19 years in the role, but would continue with the ABC behind the scenes.

Then Michael shared he too was stepping away from Overnights and the ABC for his own period of LSL. While an official replacement is chosen, Ashwin Segkar will look after Friday to Sundays from April 17.
