RTRFM’s donor drive for a new kitchen

Perth community radio station RTRFM is holding a weeklong Donor Drive, kicking off this morning on Breakfast with Caitlin  and concluding at 9am on Friday, 12 June.

The 2015 Donor Drive will fund the renovation of the station’s well-worn kitchen and green room facilities, creating a comfortable and inviting space for presenters, volunteers, staff and station guests.

The fundraising target is only $5,000 and the renovation project is expected to take 1-3 months to complete.

Funds raised will allow RTRFM to install more storage and bench space, purchase some new furniture and kitchen fittings, get Wi-Fi and give the whole room a lick of paint – and perhaps even splurge on a commissioned mural by a local visual artist.

RTRFM currently has over 250 volunteer presenters, approximately 50 office volunteers and nine staff members – plus countless guests who appear on air daily – all of whom use the station’s existing kitchen and green room facilities.

Donor Drives are undertaken intermittently at RTRFM to raise funds for a specific infrastructure project that the station would not otherwise be able to afford. The station’s last Donor Drive in June 2013 raised just over $10,000 for the installation of solar panels, which are being installed over the next 8-12 weeks at RTRFM’s Mount Lawley premises.

Everyone that donates $25 or more will automatically go into the draw to win a party in your kitchen, with local band Kitchen People, a mystery RTRFM DJ and some tasty beverages.
