The Triple M & Hit Networks in the Cyclone Debbie affected areas of Mackay and The Whitsundays will be working to ensure the local community are able to celebrate Easter next week. 

Staff will hit the road with Easter eggs, hot cross buns and even the Easter bunny; bringing some easter cheer to the most affected areas – The Whitsundays, Koumala, Sarina Ranges and Eton.
 
Plans are also currently underway to deliver a Triple M good luck truck, an initiative which allows listeners to register for help with a job that has come about due to Debbie’s path of destruction.
 
Since Cyclone Debbie came charging in last week, the Triple M and Hit Networks have been providing the community with vital news and emergency information both on air and via their social channels.
 
With news of Debbie’s approach last Monday, Triple M’s breakfast team of Jay & Dave and Hit’s Johnno with Miki started the day with emergency updates of the cyclone’s warnings from 5am – 9am. The station’s Content Director and Triple M morning host Ange Julian took over the airwaves, keeping locals informed from 9am-5pm and then the overnight team came in.
 
“Once my amazing team got in at 5pm Monday afternoon they couldn’t leave until it was safe to do so,” Ange said.
 
“The overnight team were here for 28 hour straight, they took turns to sleep on the two couches we have, provided updates and took calls from 5am Monday to 9pm Tuesday night.
 
“Those calling in mostly just wanted to hear a friendly voice, someone who would listen to them or to update us on their area and how they were doing.”
