SCA targets under sixes on digital

A new station called Kinderling for babies and kids up to six has been launched on one of Southern Cross Austereo’s DAB+ channels.

It also targets their parents with a mix of music and parenting advice that’s packaged in a way that entertains and informs while it’s audience is busy doing all the things that littlies and their mums and dads are busy doing.

The station is the brainchild of ex FBi community station boss Evan Kaldor who says, “Kinderling is about reflecting the modern family’s playlist – an interesting mix that spans all genres and isn’t afraid to move between songs from past eras to contemporary artists. We’re excited to be at the forefront of this space.”

The station, which is also available online at www.kinderling.com.au is run by experienced radio professionals who have 10 kids between them.

Kinderling has already attracted sponsorship from Volvo, Artline and CBeebies.

Southern Cross Austereo, Executive Director Metro Operations, Guy Dobson said, “This is a real innovation for radio – an Australian first – and SCA are proud to be co-parent of Kinderling Kids Radio. Kinderling Kids Radio intersects with families across multiple points – and is a compelling proposition for parents, kids and many advertisers.”

The station promises to be a safe haven for kids and their parents who won’t have to worry about crude lyrics on FM or heavy topics on AM talkback. Kaldor said, “From the Wiggles to The White Stripes, Vegetable Plot to Village People, Danny Kaye to Daft Punk and Justine Clarke to Johnny Cash, Kinderling Kids Radio is redefining music for kids. We are creating shared moments for the music lover in the child, and the child in the music lover.”

A typical weekday schedule looks like this…
