SE NSW Radio Changes

Applications for a new community radio broadcasting licence for the Eden area of NSW go on display from today.

Lyn Maddock, Acting ABA chief, says the ABA is pleased to begin the allocation of a community radio licence for Eden.

“The ABA’s planning process has identified a demand for a new community service, operated by people living in the Eden area of NSW.

“The ABA’s Licensing Section (1 800 226 667 or (02) 9334 7700) has copies of an information booklet. General information is also available on the ABA website.”

Copies of all applications will be placed for public perusal from today on the ABA’s website and in the Eden Public Library.

The ABA welcomes written submissions from the public, in response to applications received. Submissions should be lodged with the ABA by 5pm on Thursday 10 March and can also be emailed to: [email protected]

Still in south east NSW, the ABA has decided to change the transmitter site and operating conditions of community radio service, 2BAR Bega.

The ABA will also extend the licence area of 2BAR to include Candelo, Bermagui and Tura Beach.

The changes will allow 2BAR to improve coverage within its existing licence area and also provide a service to these three new areas for the first time.

The station will operate from Dr George Mountain, with an effective radiated power of 1 kW (Directional). 2BAR has been operating under a test transmission licence.

The ABA’s decisions are contained in a variation to the Bega licence area plan, which is available from its website or by calling 1 800 810 241.
