Secret Sound revealed on LAFM after two years

Is it the longest running Secret Sound competition on radio? After almost 2 years, 2 breakfast teams and thousands of guesses, this morning just after 8:25am LAFM listener Allison from Prospect finally provided the correct answer to the station’s long running Secret Sound competition.

The Launceston station required the correct combination of words to describe the Secret Sound, before it would unlock the vault holding $11,240.

And what was the elusive description that had kept LAFM listeners stumped for close to 24 months?

“Screwing closed the plastic lid on a glass jar of instant coffee,” was the correct answer.

LA FM Program Director Richard Clarke has told radioinfo:

“To finally have the LAFM Secret Sound won is a great feeling and knowing the money is going to a young family that will be able to use the windfall to help make things a little easier going into Easter is just sensational. On behalf of LAFM and Tamar Marine the sponsor of the LAFM Secret Sound we wish Allison and her family all the best for the future.”

General Manager Col Taylor says: “To hand over a cheque for $11,240 to Allison and her family is a fantastic feeling especially so close to Easter. The excitement amongst our staff and the well wishes from our listeners to Allison for finally solving the mystery of the LAFM Secret Sound is just another part of what makes working in this industry so worthwhile.”

The LAFM Secret Sound, thanks to Tamar Marine, returns Tuesday April 10. Will it be another two years before the next sound is won.
