SEN Adelaide Launch Date and Big Names revealed

All sport station, SEN1323, will launch in Adelaide next Tuesday (1 February).

High profile sports’ commentator, Bruce McAvaney, is one of the big name personalities announced by SEN for its on air line up.

Big South Australian names include Mark Bickley and Matthew Primus.

SEN’s Managing Director, Danny Staffieri, says he is elated with the addition of the high calibre personalities to the already well credentialed SEN team.

“Bruce McAvaney will regularly co-host ‘The Insiders’ with Dave Culbert and Jake Niall from Sunday (30 January), and develop a number of ‘feature’ programs for SEN during the course of the year.

“The new, Adelaide based team will certainly strengthen the quality of our product. Our coverage of local, national and international sport will be significantly boosted.”

The expansion of the Melbourne based SEN follows ARN’s decision to lease the licence of 5DN – Adelaide’s oldest commercial radio station. 5DN, which only celebrated its 80th anniversary late last year, will disappear and be replaced by a 24 hour sport format.

Mark Aiston was the first local appointment to be announced for SEN’s move into Adelaide.

Staffieri says Aiston is one of Adelaide’s most respected sporting journalists.

“As a sports’ presenter with Channel 10 for six years, Mark has been involved in the coverage and broadcasting of local and national sporting events. From football to motorsports to horseracing, Mark will be a valuable addition to the SEN team.”

Staffieri, who worked in Adelaide as FIVEaa’s General Manager, will personally oversee the development of SEN1323. During his tenure at the talk station, he made FIVEaa the highest rating newstalk station in Australia.

“I have lived in Adelaide and I have a solid understanding of the local radio market. The people of Adelaide have a great passion for all things sport and SEN1323 will satisfy their thirst. We believe it will comprise a mix of local and networked programs.

“We are proud of the team we have managed to assemble in the past 12 months – the calibre of the on air talent is second to none. Our presence in the Adelaide market will only strengthen the power of the team.

“We will deliver to the Adelaide market a great product, covering local, national and international sports’ news and programming. Everything from AFL, SANFL, soccer, cricket, swimming, athletics, golf, motor racing, horse racing, as well as pigeon racing will be covered! The SEN teams will leave no sporting arena unchecked – if its sport, SEN will cover it.”
