SEN goes all in for local Aussie Rules

Ahead of Gather Round, where Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) will broadcast 100 hours of live AFL content across five days, starting today, Sports Entertainment Group (SEG) has also upped their commitment to local and community sport and will broadcast 11 Australian Rules Football leagues across the year.

This decision by SEN to increase the investment in grassroots Aussie Rules should be commended with local sports coverage losing audio outlets due to the niche audience and perceived limited advertising opportunities. SEN has shown willingness to act on what their listeners want and activate accessible options for tuning in.

Full details of the relevant leagues, as well as where and when they can be heard are below:

South Australian National Football League (SANFL)

Heard on SEN SA 1629am and on the SEN app, commentators for the SANFL will include Paul Bonsor, Dan Menzel, Jack Hannath, Eugene Warrior, Brodie Smith and Declan Hamilton, with a designated ‘game of the week’ broadcast across each weekend.

With all the above and SEN’s AFL, NRL, netball and racing coverage over the winter months, on Saturday afternoons there can be up to 15 simultaneous broadcasts available at the same time via the SEN app.

SEG Chief Executive, Craig Hutchison, said:

“Our passion is bringing live and local sport to as many Australians as we can, and local footy is a huge part of that. Supporting these leagues – established, emerging and everything in between – is something we’re immensely proud of.

Football, netball and racing clubs are the heart of local communities and locals want local and tribal content.

In 2026, fans will have more ways to follow their clubs than ever before, and that’s exactly what SEN is here to deliver.”

Finally, for any fans who can’t get to the Gather Round games over the weekend, SEN will host watch parties from the Tyrepower Stage on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Hosted by Brodie Smith (Sunday) and John Casey (both days), fans can watch all the action from the Essendon v Melbourne game at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, and the GWS v Richmond game from Barossa Park on Sunday.
