SEN, Triple M and 3AW win 2022 AFMA Awards

Sports Entertainment Network’s (SEN) hosts and programs have been recognised at the 2022 Australian Football Media Association (AFMA) awards on Tuesday night.

SEN Chief Sports Caller Gerard Whateley (pictured) was once again named the winner of the Alf Brown Award for the most outstanding media performer for 2022.

It is the fourth time Whateley has won the award named after the legendary Australian football reporter Alf Brown and he says, “It is a tremendous honour to win this award named after one of the all-time greats of the football media.

“This has been the best season of footy this century, so the raw material has been exceptional to work with and the game feels like it has played an even greater role as a spiritual reconnector as we emerge from the pandemic years.

Whateley’s self-titled radio show, Whateley, won best radio program, while he also took out best radio caller for his work as part of the AFL Nation commentary team.

Triple M’s The Friday Huddle won Best Diversity and Inclusion Presentation, the Best Podcast was Credit To The Girls (AFL.com.au) and Leigh Matthews, 3AW, was awarded Best opinion/analysis in the Radio/TV category.
