Simon Beaumont will return to Nine Radio‘s 6PR to host an extended Perth Today Morning show, from 9am – 1pm, in 2025.
Beaumont has worked in Perth media for over 30 years with stints previously producing and hosting 6PR Breakfast, Mornings, Afternoons and Weekends. He replaces Gary Adshead who is moving to the ABC and onto Drive.
Beaumont said:
“Having been around the station on and off for nearly 20 years, I can’t wait to get stuck into the new program and reconnect with the listeners right across our wonderful city.”
Nine Radio Head of Content Greg Byrnes added:
“Simon is well loved and respected in Perth so to have him rejoin 6PR with a brand new, live and local show will be wonderful news for our listeners.
In 2025, Perth Today with Simon Beaumont will build on the success achieved by Millsy and Karl in breakfast, focusing on local stories and issues and giving Perth a voice as voters head to the polls for a state and federal election. And with Beauy at the helm there’s also sure to be plenty of laughs.
The new 9 to 1 weekday shift is part of a reinvigorated lineup for 6PR in 2025 – We’ll have more to say about that in the coming days.”
After the sackings of afternoons presenter Julie-anne Sprague and night host Tod Johnston from the station in early November, the remaining presenters were doing additional hours across the day to cover the losses with Breakfast with Millsy and Karl going from 5am to 10am. They will return to 5-9am weekdays.
Simon joins the 6PR team on Monday, January 13, 2025.
