Some New Breakfast Line Ups Start and Big Names Return

With Survey #1 due to start in less than a week, many of the new breakfast teams are debuting from today, and some existing line ups have returned after the holiday season.

Covering just some of the debutants, Dean Kesby has replaced Ian Skippen on B105’s breakfast crew in Brisbane, joining Jamie Dunn and Penny.

Skippen, a radio veteran, has moved ‘down the corridor’ to sister station, Triple M, after 16 years with B105.

In Sydney, Amanda Keller has moved in as permanent co-host with Jonesy on 101.7 WSFM breakfast.

In Canberra, FM 104.7 has replaced its breakfast line up, ‘The Mob’, with Chris Welldon and Sarah Robinson. Chris and Sarah have come from B105, where they worked together for almost two years on late nights and weekend breakfast.

And, in Perth, former ‘Young Talent Time’ host, Johnny Young, has replaced Tony Hartney on 6IX breakfast.

Among some of the big names to return today, Mike Carlton is back on 2UE breakfast, giving one lucky listener the chance to win $1 million.

People tuning in each morning at 6.15, 7.15 and 8.15 will hear an hourly name. Listeners have 9 minutes and 54 seconds to call in and be asked one general knowledge.

A correct answer wins $500 and passage through to a preliminary final. Carlton will also ask a bonus question, with another $500 up for grabs.

Then, on Friday 11 February, one of the finalists will have a shot at $1 million.

One big name, who won’t be returning to breakfast, is Channel 9 cricket commentator, Simon O’Donnell.

He has been told not to return to as co-host of Sport 927’s breakfast, with the all sport station happy to stick with its existing team of Anthony Mithen and Michael Christian.

General Manager, Noel Crowe, has told The Herald Sun that 927 just wanted a duo in breakfast – not three people.

“We thought that three was too much of a crowd. That’s life in radio. It never is forever …

“Simon has been with us before and he may well be with us again. We just thought three sometimes sounds a little bit too cluttered.”
