Spotify has improved both its free and subscriber offerings with the upgrades aimed to entice new and existing users to a better experience.

With a free Spotify account you now have:

• • Pick & Play – Hit play in the Spotify app, and you can pick and play any song you want.

• • Search & Play – Type in your favourite track and start listening instantly.

• • Share & Play- share new music, favourite songs and even song lyrics that resonate with mates.

There is also the option of making your own personalised playlists or listening to an editorial one curated by in-house music experts based around your interests.

For premium users there is now:

• • Mix – create your own radio show mix with seamless transitions

• • AI Playlist – create a mix around your personal vibe like “upbeat mix ahead of my football team playing in the finals”

• • Lossless – You can now stream tracks in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, unlocking greater detail across nearly every song available on Spotify

This major overhaul has been four years in the making for the platform and ‘puts a whole lot more power into the hands of Aussie listeners’. It should also be a warning to radio stations who rotate the same format, songs and artists.
