Street FM testing in Melbourne

The Street FM network switched on last week to complete its final broadcast & technical tests on FM 87.6 in Melbourne. Street FM will “soon provide the public with a much awaited variety of high quality underground electronica music” according to the station. “This marks a new beginning for the Melbourne underground dance community.”

The station will broadcast independent underground dance radio network in Melbourne and will be linked to the Gold Coast on 87.6fm & Sydney on 87.6fm from the end of August 2002, with further expansions later this year to Perth and other locations across Australia.

Street FM recently appointed Simon Coyle from Wet Musik as Program Manager, along with Paul Chakrabarti a brand awareness specialist from the UK. Chakrabarti was poached from Juice and has been appointed to the position of Advertising Account Manager, based in Sydney.

Street FM has scheduled over 70 shows on the weekly program grid, showcasing over 100 of Australias quality best known DJ’s, catering to all genres of underground electronica (non-commercial chart dance music).
