Subby Valentine joins Sammy Power on Mix breakfast

Following its successful ratings result this week, Mix 106.5 has announced the station’s new breakfast team, finalizing recent changes and adding one more player to the lineup. Sammy Power will be joined by comedian Subby Valentine and actor Alan Brough along with Lars Petersen as anchor.

Listeners to the new Sammy, Subby and Alan show can expect a mix of music and talk between 5.30 and 9.00, aimed at its target audience of listeners aged 25 to 54. Vic Lorusso continues as the team’s traffic reporter.

Alan Brough is familiar to television viewers for his role on the ABC’s Spicks and Specks show while Subby Valentine, a stand-up comedian for the past 10 years, cut his teeth in radio on Triple J and Triple M. Both men have joined Sammy over the past few months as co-hosts on the breakfast show in the lead up to the change.

ARN’s Sydney general manager John Williams has told radioinfo listeners can expect a locally-focused, feel good conversational-style show for adults with presenters they can relate to.

“We know the Mix 106.5 audience loves Sammy and what we have done is add a couple of Australia’s foremost comedians to work with her. The show will be a fun, conversational breakfast show with adult appeal but naturally one that the whole family can listen to.

‘’We’re thrilled that Subby and Alan have agreed to join ARN and Sammy on the show. It’s taken us a while to find the right people and the right chemistry and we are confident the new team will continue to be a leading force in Sydney’s competitive breakfast radio market.”

Alan Brough describes Sammy as an aunty to the audience. “She has that lovely aunty quality – a naughty aunty, the one who would buy you some beers when you’re 17 years old.”

Subby has a “relaxed, backyard style and tells great stories about his kids and the responsibilities of being a dad,” while Brough describes himself as the wild card of the group, who is there “to throw stuff in from left field.”
