Nova Entertainment No 1 & 2 most listened to stations, Jase and Lauren top for breakfast – GfK Survey 3 cumes

A quick look at the cumulative audience charts for GfK Radio 360 Survey 3 will show that this is a great day for Nova Entertainment. In the five metros they have the No 1 station for listening audience with the exception of Adelaide where Nova 919 was just a whisker behind Mix 102.3. Breakfast was the same, except that KIIS 106.5’s Kyle and Jackie O maintained fortress Sydney. Bogart Torelli (pictured) at Smooth 95.3 and Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie at Nova 969 were two and three. Nova breakfast teams lead in Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide with six of the top 12 Nova stations.

The biggest growth in breakfast listening was for Nova 100’s Jase and Lauren who consolidated their No 1 spot also overtaking Gold 104.3‘s Christian O’Connell for the largest share of audience for an FM breakfast show in Melbourne. The new this year pairing of Sharnelle Vella and Bob Murphy at ABC Melbourne were also most improved, likely due to the federal election campaign within this survey period and Ross and Russ at 3AW, although their share of audience was down slightly.

After a great survey 2 Fitzy and Wippa at Nova 969 saw a drop of the audience gains they’ve seen across this year. Kate Ritchie has been absent without a return date since the start of February and I think Nova will be aware the show’s audience is tiring of checking in to find out what is happening without an answer. Same for Beau and Woodsy at Triple M 104.9 Sydney. Tarsh Belling departed the show in early March. This morning, show anchor Cat Lynch has been announced to be joining the front facing lineup which should provide stability into Survey 4.

The gains for Kyle and Jackie O in Sydney were offset by losses in Melbourne which were also the same for KIIS 106.5 versus KIIS 101.1. There was also a significant audience drop for Gold 104.3. 2Day FM’s new youth formula picked up some additional listeners while triple j Sydney‘s fell away. Not so for triple j in Melbourne who saw impressive gains alongside the local ABC which will please the national broadcaster.
