To celebrate triple j’s 50th birthday celebrations, the station has announced a mid year countdown, the Hottest 100 of Australian Songs, dedicated to the homegrown artists and tracks that have resonated across generations, and helped define the national sound.

Hottest 100 of Australian songs? There’s no aphrodisiac quite like it.

The countdown begins on Saturday July 26 from 10am AEST and is taking over the entire triple j network, broadcasting on triple j, and simulcast on Double J, triple j Unearthed, and triple j Hottest.

We’re so excited we could swing from the……well you know.

The countdown also brings together an all-star cast of triple j and Double J voices including Ash McGregor & Dave Woodhead, Dylan Lewis & Yumi Stynes, Abby Butler & Tyrone Pynor, Concetta Caristo & Luka Muller and Zan Rowe & Lucy Smith.

Looking forward to the countdown surprises so, the less I know the better.

Get behind the incredible music being made in our own backyard with triple j and the Hottest 100 of Australian Songs champions of the artists and tracks that have made a lasting impact and been a part of the soundtrack of your life.

This would have to be right up there, surely.

Whether they’re timeless classics or current day anthems, listeners can vote now for their favourite Australian songs of all time, so long as they were released before triple j’s 50th birthday, on 19 January 2025. At the triple j website you can browse through the shortlist, or import your own favourites and also see who other Aussie acts and presenters have voted for.
