Talk Show Hosts remain near the bottom of the “trust” ladder

Readers Digest has released it’s annual “trusted” list in terms of professions and high profile individuals.

Of the top 50 professions Talkback Radio Hosts are ranked 43rd , beating out Real estate agents and a handful of other vocations such as Call centre staff, Sex workers, Insurance salespeople, Politicians and Door-to-door salespeople. Journalists only managed one place higher at 42.

On the plus side, talk hosts finished one notch up from last year, equal with CEOs who were dragged down by a poor showing by QANTAS  chief Alan Joyce.

Yet, on the list of 100 trusted individuals, no talk presenters were apparent. The least trusted radio person is not from talk radio but from FM. A model of consistency, Kyle Sandilands is ranked 96th as he was last year. Still, he’s on an upward trajectory compared to 2012 when he was in 99th spot.

The highest ranked person with at least a regular segment on radio is Hamish Blake at 30 (up from 37 last year) while his co-host Andy Lee who reached 39 last year isn’t listed this year.

WSFM’s Amanda Keller didn’t make the list last year, but landed at 39 this time round.
