Tanner Reappointed to ABA

General Manager, Giles Tanner, has been reappointed as a full time acting member of the Australian Broadcasting Authority.

He is a lawyer and has worked within the communications industry for almost 20 years, chiefly in broadcasting and communications law and policy. He has also worked for the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Tanner has been General Manager for seven years. He was initially appointed an acting member in September after the retirement of several ABA members and the Government’s decision to create the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

Communications Minister, Helen Coonan says the reappointment will continue until ACMA comes into force on 30 June 2005.

“I thank Mr Tanner for agreeing to continue in this important role in the lead up to the creation of ACMA.”
