Tasmania Today launches today

Tasmania Today with John Fabris promises to be Northern Tasmania’s only dedicated talk program, airing on Launceston’s 89.3 LAFM, Burnie’s 7BU, Devonport’s 7AD and Scottsdale’s 7SD from 9 am Mon – Fri.

Fabris says he intends the program to be a “meeting place for everyday Australians.

In my opinion, the last thing we all want is another program for politicians to toot their own horn. Northern Tasmania is one of the most beautiful parts of Australia and there are a number of concerns that need to be addressed – Tasmania Today will be the platform to let the people speak.”

Executive General Manager of Tasmanian Broadcasters, Tim Holder says, “Since purchasing our tenth radio licence in late 2010 (and the subsequent launch of chilli 90.1fm in Launceston), Tasmanian Broadcasters have gone through a dramatic period of growth including the development of a new Devonport-based hub, streamlined play-out systems across the network, and the acceleration of content and shows in development.

“Tasmania Today with John Fabris will be an important programming feature for Tasmanian Broadcasters and indeed the people of Northern Tasmania.

“His no holds barred approach to interviews and current affairs is sure to put the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons and I for one am very much looking forward to 9am Monday morning”

Tasmania Today will feature a number of regular contributors, drawing on Tasmanian Broadcasters’ network of 160 staff positioned across the state.
