Tatiara District names Hollie Wearne Young Citizen of the Year

Hollie co-host’s the nationally syndicated ‘Melomania with Scad and Hollie’.

Hollie manages to juggle full time work at local business Wickham Flower, co-hosts Melomania with Scad & Hollie, is a board member at 5tcbFM, as other behind the scenes work within her local community.

At the age of 15, Hollie walked through the studio’s of 5tcb during Melomania’s first 48-hour lockdown, and it seemed like a dream come true for Hollie to gain experience at the community radio station.

Hollie would assist the Music Director and Breakfast radio shifts before heading to school and occasionally fill in for Melomania, which had just become a Nationally syndicated program. As the shows popularity increased so did Hollie’s, she was voted the 2nd favourite Melomaniac of the Year in 2011 (after Vanessa Amorosi).

When the co-host slot became available,Hollie stepped up to the role. Seven years later, Melomania with Scad and Hollie is broadcast on over 40 radio stations in Australia and 5 overseas locations.

Melomania with Scad & Hollie listeners are treated to the latest release music and current info on what and who’s happening in Australia and overseas.

The show promotes up-and-coming artists, and welcomes submissions from those just starting out, while Scad and Hollie produce, record and interview talent every week.

For over 55 years, the Australian of the Year Awards have celebrated the achievements and contributions of Australia’s finest – those who lead by example across all fields of endeavor, for the benefit our nation.

The Awards provide all Australians with the opportunity to recognize someone who makes them proud, in four categories: Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year (those aged 65 years or over), and Young Australian of the Year (ages 16 to 30).
