Taylor Swift (Triple M’s version)

It is 11 days until Taylor Swift launches her Eras tour at the MCG and she’s just announced, after winning her 13th Grammy for ‘Midnights’ as Best Pop Vocal Album, that she’s dropping a new one called ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ on April 19.

A most unlikely source, Triple M, the rock station, have embraced this cultural phenomenon with a selection of Australia’s best known and loved rock artists covering some of her many biggest hits for Triple M Versions.

Starting today, February 5, Aussie music greats, including Paul Kelly, Ian Moss, The Screaming Jets, Sarah McLeod, Diesel and Birds of Tokyo will take on Swift which you can hear by listening to your local Triple M Breakfast show or by streaming Triple M live on LiSTNR.

Paul Kelly covering ‘Anti-Hero’ kicked things off. The Screaming Jets will do ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ tomorrow.

Lead singer of the Screaming Jets as well as host of Triple M Nights, Dave Gleeson, said:

“Taking on the challenge of covering Taylor Swift’s banger We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and fusing it with the sound of The Screaming Jets was a blast. Reimagining this song for Triple M was an unexpected start to 2024, but the outcome is something that our Triple M listeners can 100% get on board with.”

Head of Triple M Metro Content, Matthew O’Reilly, said:

“The Triple M Versions are an outstanding collaboration of some of Australia’s best rock artists with some of the world’s most popular songs, resulting in something completely unique to Triple M and Australia. We are pumped to present these never-before-heard covers and join the celebrations of the Australian leg of Taylor Swift’s iconic tour.”
