The 20th i98FM Illawarra Convoy set for November 17

The 20th edition of i98FM’s Illawarra Convoy will take place on Sunday November 17 and promises to be the biggest yet. The Convoy has raised more than $25 million so far for the Illawarra Community Foundation which helps families affected by life threatening and life limiting illnesses.

The official launch was attended by i98FM Breakfast Show hosts Marty Haynes, Christian McEwan and Bella Leone and beneficiaries supported by the Foundation. Australian singer/songwriter Diesel will be headline performer at this year’s free Family Fun Day. Diesel will be joined by country music artist Andrew Swift and other local talent.

i98FM Illawarra Convoy Manager, Bill White said:

“This event holds such a special place in the Illawarra Community and it’s phenomenal that we are now celebrating the 20th year of this incredible event. Our community has raised so much money and we are exceptionally proud of the impact Convoy has had on over 500 families right here in the Illawarra and South Coast – as well as funding major projects such as the redevelopment of Wollongong Hospital Children’s Ward.”

Marty Haynes, i98FM Breakfast Show host and Convoy Founder said:

“We’ve seen some truly creative and inspiring fundraising events from our lead contenders. From golf days and boxing matches to gala dinners and even a ferret race, the dedication is truly heartwarming! Back in 2005, we couldn’t have imagined the incredible impact this event would have. I am so proud that Convoy is in its 20th year and for everything it’s been able to give to the Illawarra community who have so generously supported the event each and every year!”

On the day, the i98FM Illawarra Convoy will depart under police escort from the Appin North GM3 (formerly West Cliff Colliery) on Appin Rd at 8:00 AM. The route will wind down Mt Ousley through Warrawong, past Stockland Shellharbour, and through Albion Park Rail before arriving at the Shellharbour Airport for the Free Family Fun Day.

Truck and motorbike registrations are now open online. For further information and to register visit the official website: www.illawarraconvoy.com.au
