John Laws has announced on 2SM this morning that he will retire just shy of 71 years in the industry, with his last day Friday November 8.
You can listen to his announcement above.
Lawsy and I spoke just after his show wrapped up. When asked if there’s anyone he particularly wishes to speak to in the coming weeks he said:
“You. All the listeners. Anyone who calls to give me a part of their day. They are all important to me.”
And when I asked why today was the day for this announcement he answered:
“Do you ever just get that feeling that enough is enough? I’ve had a hell of a lot of fun though.”
John particularly thanked Jodee Borgo, his personal assistant, and the late Bill Caralis for their support. On asking what he was looking forward to John simply said, ‘tomorrow’.
Many of you might like to call John, or send him a message before he leaves 2SM. You can call 1300 56 46 52 between 9am and 12 noon weekdays AEST or email [email protected].
As he said, he’s looking forward to catching up with us all.
