Oops.
To get in the spirit of AFL Grand Final this weekend, GOLD104.3’s The Christian O’Connell Show did exactly what your mum tells you not to do, and played football in the house. They opened the doors to ARN’s Melbourne office to hundreds of local listeners for The Hand Final – where listeners tried to handball a football into the drum of a washing machine.
First up was 15-year-old Katrina. Her attempt ricocheted off the washing machine and smashed the window of the ARN’s common room.
Out of 100s of attempts, 20 listeners did punt into the barrel, getting to walk away with a Fisher & Paykel washing machine.
After the smashing incident Christian said:
“It’s high and wide and we’ve actually broken a window. That couldn’t have gone any worse! We only have twenty more windows left to break…”
Jack Post added:
“You’re the first contestant ever on the show that actually owes us money.”
The broken window somehow didn’t make the hand final footage on Christian’s Facebook feed, with Christian blaming his phone. Well played.
