SCA has announced the first of their permanent line up changes for 2DAY FM, and their national Hit Network, with Nic Kelly and Loren Barry taking on the night time program starting this evening, Monday January 13, from 7-10pm.
The Hot Hits with Nic & Loren indicates a couple of things; firstly that Jimmy and Nath, who moved from nights to breakfast six months ago on the departure of Hughesy, Ed and Erin on an interim basis, are perhaps finally confirmed as staying in their new role. It also means that Mike E and Emma, Mike Etheridge and Emma Chow, who moved from mornings to Nights to cover for Jimmy and Nath, are currently without a role. There is industry speculation that Emma Chow might be joining Jimmy and Nath to complete that ongoing puzzle. Mike E and Emma have been working together on air for nearly 14 years so it would be surprising to separate the two.
Nic Kelly, a supporter of new and Australian music had been the host of The Hot Hits on weekends across the Hit Network.
Loren Barry departed her role as part of The Marty Sheargold Show on the Triple M Network last November with Marty saying at the time that Loren was staying within the network. The duo will host Hit Network Nights Monday to Thursday from 7pm to 10pm.
Nic said:
“Nights radio has been a dream for me since I listened to Tim Lee & Biggsy’s Hot 30 as a teenager on the Central Coast, and to get to do a nightly show that focuses on my greatest love, music, and helps amplify the story of super talented people is life affirming and a privilege. I’m unbelievably excited to get to do it with my friend Loren, whose zest for life and music, wit and heart are going to make our show iconic every night.”
Loren added:
“Co-hosting The Hot Hits is a dream come true. As someone who grew up listening to Nights radio in my bedroom every night, this is very much a ‘pinch me’ moment. To top it off, getting to work alongside someone with the passion, enthusiasm and music expertise that Nic has is an absolute privilege. I am just super excited to hang out with the Hit Night’s audience and have more fun than you can poke a stick at. Buckle up!”
Behind the scenes will be Kerrod Sharpe producing, Phil Horn and Hamish Kilsby.
The Lucy & Nikki Show, hosted by Lucy Jackson and Nikki Westcott, will continue on Friday nights across the Hit Network from 7pm to 10pm. Their Saturday night show though will shift from 7 to 1opm to 5 to 8pm.
