Three young Aussies a step closer to realising their radio dream

Three talented young Australians are a step closer to realising their professional dream – working in radio, with the British Council Australia announcing the ‘Realise Your Dream’ finalists for 2005.

There are a total of 47 semi-finalists, aged between 18 – 26 years old, with three interested in radio.

Mary-Jane Fenech from NSW wants to be a radio producer, while Nicola Taylor, also from NSW and Kate Walton from QLD both just want to work in radio.

Now in its third year, ‘Realise Your Dream’ is an opportunity for young Australians to develop their careers and experience through professional mentoring with top industry experts in the UK.

Six winners will be formally announced at a special awards ceremony held at the Sydney Opera House on 22nd September. Each recipient will receive an award valued at $AU 10,000, which covers return airfares to the UK, relevant course fees, accommodation and living expenses, as well as “money-can’t-buy” opportunities.

Simon Gammell, Director of British Council Australia told radioinfo: “The quality of this year’s entrants to the ‘Realise Your Dream’ programme was outstanding. Each of the 47 semi-finalists of this year’s competition have showed great initiative and creativity.”.
