TMFM 95.5 and sister station 92.9 have wrapped up another hugely successful Tamworth Country Music Festival. Across ten days the stations broadcast nearly 200 interviews, announcers acted as MCs on stage and they even assisted the judging of the Best of the Buskers Championship, held on the main stage at Toyota Park on the festival’s final night.
92.9 had its Lounges Plus Live Lounge return too, spotlighting a diverse mix of talent and delivering relaxed, intimate conversations throughout the festival. Picture main is 92.9′s Keely Davies with Max Jackson (supplied)
A major highlight this year was the crowning of Boggabri’s Sam Snape as TMFM Discovered Winner 2026, selected by special guest judges Andrew Farriss, Jayne Denham and Taylor Moss. Sam took home a prize pack valued at over $3,000, including the TMFM Discovered trophy and 12 months of airplay and interview opportunities. Ruby Holden received the Encouragement Award, with fellow finalists Hazel & The Thief, Jess Coombes, Olive Mae and Zac Weeks also impressing judges with their original songs.
On the night of nights for Australian country music TMFM backstage had post-win live to air interviews with Wade Forster, Max Jackson, The Wolfe Brothers, Zac & George, James Johnston, Fanny Lumsden and more.
General Manager Steve Nicholas said:
“Tamworth really turned it on this year, and we were proud to be right at the heart of the festival. From the sheer number of interviews to our stage involvement, live broadcasts and Red Carpet coverage, our teams worked incredibly hard to showcase the artists, the fans and the energy that makes Tamworth so special. The response from listeners — locals and visitors alike — has been fantastic.”
An estimated 300,000+ people visited Tamworth to enjoy the 2026 Festival with more than 700 performances across free and ticketed events. Opening Night alone attracted around 8,000 fans to Toyota Park, significantly up on previous years.
