After reading the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast are kicking off there Ironman series soon, Hot FM’s Hamish and Tanya thought … “just ’cause we are inland, doesn’t mean we can’t have an Ironman competition too!”
Traditionally, an Ironman competition involves a 4km swim, a 180 km bicycle ride and a marathon 42.2 km run, raced in that order and without a break. It is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world.
Of course we don’t have a beach. So this morning they held a literal ironman event.
MEN. IRONING. CLOTHES. Men who can iron.
The top Ironman title went to James who won $1200 worth of prizes thanks to Hip Pocket Work Wear and Safety, after ironing against 8 competitors, negotiating his Hi-Vis decals, drill pants and polyester shirts.
“I just turned up and yeah I took it away. I wanna thank me mum”– Ironman Winner James.
