triple j takes over Apple Music’s Beats 1 during November

triple j has teamed up with Apple Music’s Beats 1 for a series of special broadcasts showing off the best and brightest of what’s happening in our own backyard.

As part of our Ausmusic Month, the ABC’s national youth network and the Apple streaming service will collaborate to present four one hour shows – one each weekend in November – where  triple j hosts will be showcasing Australian music.

This Saturday Zan Rowe and Dom Alessio will spin a genre-spanning mix of new Australian music, including Boy & Bear, DMA’s, Tkay Maidza, Dead Letter Circus and 2015 Unearthed High winners Mosquito Coast.

They will also premiere brand new music from award-winning Brisbane artist Emma Louise.

Each program will have a particular highlight. The following week, Matt and Alex will focus on the massive year of the J Award nominated songsmith Courtney Barnett.

In week three, Lewi McKirdy and Linda Marigliano will turn to rising female stars.

Veronica and Lewis will round out the November takeover with an exclusive world premiere from the Hottest 100 dominating Chet Faker and his new BFF, London-based producer Marcus Marr.

Beats 1 Director Zane Lowe announced the Takeover in his show saying: “It’s always been the dream here at Beats 1 to work in collaboration with everybody, including other radio stations … it gives us great pleasure to announce in Takeover in November: Australia’s legendary triple j…”

triple j Content Director Ollie Wards said: “This Ausmusic Month triple j is stoked to be showcasing Australian artists to a new worldwide audience on Beats 1, recommending music to people in 100 countries.

“triple j is all about supporting the best new Australian music, so our residency on the Beats 1 Takeover in November is an awesome opportunity for the all-Australian acts we’ll be playing to build their international fan base.”

The triple j Beats 1 shows will air each Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon US time (6am Saturday/1am Monday AEDT).
