From time to time radio breakfast teams record a song for a laugh or for charity, but somehow Triple M Bundaberg’s Jacob & El (Jacob Nicholls and Elerrina McPherson) and their ‘band’ 2 Non Blondes ended up taking the gag next level.
It all began when Jacob & El, for fun, created 2 Non Blondes to open Bundy’s Battle of the Bands. They performed Teenage Dirtbag and everything went pretty well.
Fast forward a few weeks later and Phil Jamieson, the legendary front man of Grinspoon, is heading to Bundy as part of his PJ AIR Tour. He’s performing solo with no support acts anywhere across the country.
When Phil caught up with Jacob and El for the obligatory interview about the tour, they, jokingly, plugged their band. But, Phil so liked their vibe that he offered them to be the official opening act to kick off his tour.
Last Saturday night, 2 Non Blondes officially opened for Phil at the Grand Hotel in Childers. And Phil was front and centre in the crowd, dancing and cheering the pair on. Go the multi-instrumentalist Jacob!
