The Two Murrays depart Tapt Media, who might replace them?

Jason Morrison via The Daily Telegraph (subscription required) has reported that The Two Murrays, Murray Wilton and Murray Olds, have been dropped by Tapt Media.

The pair hosted weekends – Saturdays and Sundays from 1-6pm – over the summer non NRL period on 2GB and 4BC. As Tapt Media only launched on May 1, The Two Murrays technically have never worked for the Laundy Family with their last weekend with Nine Radio heard Feb 21 & 22.

This decision means that the new owners are forward planning and it seems no coincidence that the freed up space post the 2026 NRL season coincided with another show launch on a different network last week.

The Long Weekend on ARN‘s GOLD Network, 9Now and Stan, and hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Eddie McGuire, debuted last Friday June 12.

With the greatest respect for Karl and Eddie, the Long Weekend radio version felt like an imperfect fit – like tomato sauce on ice cream. The GOLD Network has never been a sports or politically leaning space. It plays classic hits and competes with smooth, not SEN.

However that show, post football seasons, on talk and sports channels like Tapt Media’s across the weekend?

That does work.

Equally I believe that Sarah Patterson at Radio Today is also right that ARN is using The Long Weekend as a smokescreen for their own forward planning.

Kerri Elstub and Dave Cameron were very confident on the KIIS future post Survey 3. Delivering the right talent and show may require a six month window to execute.

The initial buzz around the potential of Kris Fade on KIIS Network breakfast, ahem, faded. But, there are a lot of ducks to get into a row for both the network and Kris and his family before any new show he hosts in Australia could officially launch.

It seems a long bow to draw that there is any connective tissue between The Two Murrays leaving 2GB and 4BC and Kris Fade joining KIIS but, what is happening now, behind the all the smokescreens, will dictate what we hear in 2027.

Watch this space.
