Triple M goes to 2GB for what’s happening at KIIS

In Sydney, two breakfast shows in particular have leant in to the ongoing Kyle and Jackie O saga rather than looked the other way. 2GB‘s Ben Fordham and Triple M‘s Beau, Cat and Woodsy. Why wouldn’t you when there are potentially 700K listeners up for grabs?

Triple M’s Beau Ryan (main image) has spoken from the perspective of once being on the inside of the KIIS ratings juggernaut. Ben’s taken a different tack, saying on Mike Etheridge‘s new podcast Behind the Mic that he works harder than Kyle does. Two things have happened since that podcast episode was released on March 10. Firstly, Mike Etheridge is currently warming the KIIS 101.1 and 1065 chair while we await tomorrow’s decision about the K&J show’s future. Secondly, Kyle was spotted chatting with Craig Laundy of the Laundy Family Office (subscription required) who recently bought 2GB alongside the other Nine Entertainment radio stations.

Could Kyle be joining 2GB? Could the pair be conspiring to purchase ARN? Was it just an excellent promotional activity for both?

In lieu of any answers, this morning, to wrap up their breakfast show, Beau, Cat and Woodsy decided to ring Ben Fordham and ask. Because, why not?

Ben was up for the chat and it was pretty good radio as a result.

Beau: “We said the other day that Stu Landy was spotted with Kyle. Is Kyle going to 2GB and if so, where are you going to place him throughout the day?”

Ben: “What are you now? An investigative reporter or something?”

Aaron Woodsy Woods: “Will they be the next power couple in the industry?”

Ben: “I feel for Cat in your team! What’s it like being surrounded by, not one but two knuckleheads?”

Cat Lynch: “I get asked that every day (laughs), it’s like trying to lasso water!”

Ben: “I never know what’s happening in this great industry, which is why we love radio so much!”

It wrapped up with Beau asking Ben for a couple of points come ratings day (This Thursday at 9:30am by the way). I think both stations have scored a couple with listeners during this period.
