Triple M’s Grill Team will reflect what real blokes really want – mates

After much rumour and conjecture the final line-up for Triple M’s new breakfast show, The Grill Team, has been officially announced. Cricketer and wine buff, Stuart MacGill and ex NRL star Mark Geyer will join Aussie Goes To… Gus Worland from next Monday.

In case three’s not enough to haul in an audience, they’ll be joined by Byron Cooke, Sami Lukis and Dan Ginnane making enough for a basketball team.

This news has put paid to the rumour that NRL and Footy Show star Matthew Johns was to anchor the team which would also include ex Hi-Five star Charli Delaney. However, Delaney is starting a night show on Austereo sister stations 2Day and Fox from next Monday to follow the Hot30 from 10pm-12am.

Austereo’s Head of Content Guy Dobson says of The Grill Team, “Gus, Stu and MG are a great bunch of guys and are real mates already which is a high priority for us and their friendship is a huge part of this show.

“They’re a great fit for Triple M and our listeners will love them. They all have a sporting background but the show will be accessible for everyone and will be about Sydney and the issues that our listeners care about.

“We’re very happy Byron, Dan and Sami have come on board to help finish the team and continue their work with Triple M,” says Dobson.

Paul Murray and Rachel Corbett who have been filling in on breakfast pending the formation of the Grill Team, will be doing the Drive shift (4pm – 6pm) in between Roy and HG’s shows on Mondays and Fridays from September 8th. Peter Berner will be doing 6pm – 7pm.

Gus Worland is well known for his Foxtel series An Aussie Goes To… which was one of the highest rating programs on Foxtel ever.

Ex-cricketer Stuart MacGill played 44 Test matches for Australia and since his retirement has been a media commentator for the 2009 Ashes series on SBS and is a wine aficionado with his own Foxtel series Uncorked.

Mark Geyer is a Triple M regular with his work on Dead Set Legends and has represented NSW in the State of Origin and was a key player with the Penrith Panthers where he helped the team win the premiership in 1991.

Of the new show, Gus says, “I am so happy to be on Triple M doing a sports entertainment brekkie show with a couple of sporting legends. The show is basically mates around the BBQ talking about Sydney, sport and the issues that affect their lives. I cannot wait to start the shows.”
