Triple M’s Strawny shaves his head for charity

Triple M’s Strawny has shaved his hair for a good cause, raising more than $13K for leukemia research with the World’s Greatest Shave.

Last Saturday, in front of the Port Macquarie community, Strawny and others got the chop with the Mayor of Port Macquarie Hastings Council, Peta Pinson and Councillor Danielle Maltman joining the event (pictured with Strawny post shave) and the campaign well exceeding its $10,000 target for the Leukemia Foundation.

Strawny said:

“I’d love to let the community know that if someone finds themselves in the awful scenario where they, or someone in their family, is fighting something like leukemia, that there are so many great local initiatives to assist with their mental health. We are so lucky in Port Macquarie to have organisations like Self Seen, the men’s mental health group, or Port Macquarie Women’s Connect and Lifeline Mid Coast. It’s not a situation anyone wants to find someone they love in, but we’re so lucky to be in a community that rallies behind our own.

My goal was to raise more than $10,000 – it’s unbelievable that we’ve smashed that number! For people to donate, especially in these tough times, shows how great our community is and how much people want to help. Every dollar matters and I’m really proud that we’re able to support the Leukemia Foundation in this way. Port Macquarie always turns up for a worthy cause – it’s why we love our community.”
