Two big events for Techos: MITC Certification and Technorama Conference

The community radio sector has come up with an innovative conference for technical people in the sector, called Technorama 2009, which will be held in September.

Technorama is being created to increase the visibility of techs within the sector, and
reinforce the perception of the important role that technologists play in community broadcasting. It is targeted at technologists and technical practitioners throughout the Community Broadcasting Sector.

Registration is open to anyone who supports the aims of the sector and is willing
to contribute to the success of the event in some positive way. Some of the attendees will have many
years of experience in the Sector, but the programming has been crafted to appeal also to those with
limited technology experience, to management, and to women.

The event will be on 4, 5 and 6 September in Melbourne.

If all goes well with the first Technorama, the organisers expect that it will run at least annually, with programming that is complementary to the CBAA national conference.

Also of interest to technologists in the radio broadcasting sector will be the Media Industry Technologist Certification, which will be offered again at the SMPTE conference next month in Sydney.
