Most of our daily content is free, but as stories age they go into our locked vault, because our 30 years worth of content covering Australia’s radio industry is valuable. On This Day and other sections of our publication are also locked.
We work hard to bring you important news about the radio, podcast, audio book, technology and audio production industries. We are a private business that has this industry at its heart, but it costs money to run a business and pay our small team.

When Steve began this business 30 years ago he made the commitment to keep the job ads free, to support up-and-coming people in the radio industry and to improve industry training. For many years he worked for free. Now the business is bigger, but so is the cost base. The bigger the website archive the more our Amazon cloud server costs us. Anyone who runs a website knows that hosting costs are continually rising and exchange rates are not always favourable to the Aussie dollar.

We don’t get any money from government, nor from the various journalism support schemes. Trade bodies do not pay us, nor do the publicists who send us stories. We rely on advertising, job ad classifieds and subscriptions.
Do you copy and paste our news and send it to other people in your company through your internal news clipping service without paying for it? Maybe you want to rethink that. If our news is worthwhile clipping, it must also be worth paying for. A subscription costs about 50 cents per day.
There is already an instant tax deduction in place for work expenses and in last month’s budget, the government proposed to increase that to a $1,000 instant tax deduction to take effect from 1 July 2026 and claimable on tax returns in late 2027. This means eligible workers can automatically claim $1,000 off their taxable income without having to provide receipts for those work-related expenses.
