An audio file doing the rounds right now is of newsreader, Jessica Vanderende on air at 2UE covering the U.S. primaries.
Don’t laugh too much at ‘Ark Kansas’ or you’ll miss another zinger. We can’t be too hard on Jessica, its been reported that a newsreader on ABC Classic FM made the same mistake. And, after all, we may have spelt her name wrong.
But 2UE, General Manager, Simon Ruhfus stood by her, telling radioinfo, “Jessica’s an excellent journalist who did a great job on the recent federal election.” In any case, Jessica’s tendered her resignation and is off to Ch 7 as a producer.
Of more pressing concern for Ruhfus is how the vastly different 2UE line-up will be reflected in the upcoming survey, “We’ve launched four new shows this year, so logically we’ll go down before we go up. But I honestly believe we’re sounding much better than we did last year.”
