Vale Bob Cooke

Bob Cooke, one half of Hobart’s radio team of Cooke & Moore, passed away on Saturday, aged 75.

The 75-year-old had been battling deteriorating health issues in recent months, and leaves behind his wife Julie and extended family and friends.

Bob began in radio at 7HO as a panel operator in 1963 and met his long time on-air partner and good friend Richard Moore in 1971.

The pair hosted the live breakfast program Today on Channel 6, before moving onto the 7HO breakfast show from 1982 to 2003.

Moore says, “I listened to him when I was growing up and finally got to work with him at 7HO in October 1971 when I joined as an announcer. Our on-air chats at the end of his shift and the start of mine, ended up being what would turn out to be the basis of Cooke & Moore.

“He was talented, not only as a presenter, but as a producer and writer and a genuinely funny comic. I loved him as a brother and will miss him terribly.”

Tomorrow morning after 8.30 Moore will join 7HOFM‘s Sarah, Mick & Jonno to celebrate his career.
