Vale Paul Hussey

Paul Hussey, on air presenter and recently elected Board member of SWR FM 99.9 in Sydney’s greater west, suffered a heart attack on air during the Drive shift late on Monday afternoon this week, and was pronounced dead at Blacktown Hospital that evening. Paul had worked in commercial radio and had also been heard on other community radio stations in Sydney. He was 59.

Paul had been on air at SWR since April 2010, having previously broadcast on WOW FM in St. Marys, after many years on country commercial radio stations in New South Wales and Queensland dating back to the early 1970s.

Apart from his regular Friday afternoon Drive shift, Paul was an integral part of SWR’s Saturday Sports Brekky program, and also ran a highly popular Saturday night request program on the station.

Paul Hussey is survived by his wife Madeline, and by his five children.

Paul passed away doing what he loved most of all – radio. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, both on and off air.

His family has advised that his friends can attend his funeral on Monday, December 5. Any enquiries should be directed to Joanne Horder at SWR FM on 02 9676 0999 or by email to [email protected].
