Vale Sue Smith and Richard Carleton’s funeral details

Radio and television broadcaster Sue Smith died this week in her Sydney home.

Sue Smith co-hosted mornings on 2UE during the late 1970s and early 80s and went on to become the first female to present a current affairs show on prime time Australian television, hosting A Current Affair.

Considered a pioneer of female journalists, Sue Smith died of a heart-attack in her home in Crows Nest, Sydney, aged in her 60s. She was suffering from a disease affecting her muscles and brain, which had left her housebound for many years.

Meanwhile, a memorial service for the other radio and tv reporter who died this week, Richard Carleton, will be held tomorrow, Friday 12 May, at the Clancy Auditorium of the University of NSW at 6.30 pm.
