Vale Tony Dickinson: Audio Tribute

Veteran radio and TV broadcaster Tony Dickinson passed away this morning having lost his battle with cancer.

He was a former Program Director of radio 4BH in Brisbane but is arguably best known as the breakfast Newsreader at 2UE.

His wife Sharon says “thankyou” for all those who’ve said very nice things about working with him over the years – Tony was really overwhelmed by those comments from so many people.

His friend Scott Mayman, News Director at 4BC and Magic882, Brisbane produced the audio tribute below and wrote to our Admin Manager, Wendy to say, “I can’t thank you enough for the vital information you’ve been passing along, as part of a person’s last requests.
You’ve really helped him – and his wife – and I thank you very much.”

As soon as I find out details of the arrangements,  I’ll let you know.

Tony pioneered the one hour news format when he anchored SAS10 TV News in Adelaide.

He’s also best known as the man who broke the news on Sydney’s 2UE about the Granville Train Disaster.   He was also Program Director of 4BH in Brisbane when it was a short-time “Talk” Station.
