Vega 91.5 goes live

Melbourne’s Vega 91.5 Breakfast show is live and on the air as of 6 o’clock this morning.

Breakfast team Shaun Micallef, Beverley O’Connor and Denise Scott are the first voices heard on the new DMG station, which will move to full live programming soon.

They opened the show with “Good morning – well what do you think of the show so far? Give us a ring.” After their initial concerns if anyone was actually listening, they promptly received calls from listeners in Melbourne and the rest of the lively first show was off and running.

During the show Denise Scott interviewed her ukulele playing husband, who sang Tom Jones’ Delilah over the phone accompanied by his ukulele!

The rest of the line-up will be the same as Sydney’s Vega 95.3 with Wendy Harmer serving at Vega Café in the morning, Francis Leach on afternoons, Tony Squires and Rebecca Wilson on drive and Mike Perso on nights. Those presenters will not be heard on air yet until all the work for linking the two stations is complete.

Listeners in Sydney will be able to hear snippets of the Melbourne breakfast show, with a highlights package being run on weekends.
