When Classic Hits 1170 2CH became a Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) station on October 21, 2020 it felt a defining moment for Sydney radio. It began with rugby league commentator Andrew Voss, Vossy for Breakfast, and he has remained with the station ever since, joined by Penrith Panthers inaugural premiership winning captain Greg ‘Brandy’ Alexander at the start of 2022.
To coincide with the 4th birthday SEN has announced that Vossy and Brandy will continue in 2025. In the most recent Survey 6, 2024, they had a 2.6% share of all people 10+ heading into NRL finals. Their cumulative audience also grew by 13,000 from the previous period.
You might say that this was to be expected for a Sydney sports station, at the pointy end of the season. More reflective of how far they’ve come is that Survey 6, 2023, same time last year, was just 0.6%. Small numbers overall perhaps, but an audience quadrupled over 12 months is worth more than a mention.
Andrew Voss said:
“I can’t wait for another big year with Brandy. It’s an incredible time to be covering not just NRL but all sport here in Sydney – there’s plenty to talk about, and our listeners are as engaged as ever.”
And Brandy (unfortunately) just had to mention his beloved Panthers:
“Off the back of four consecutive Grand Final victories for the Panthers, Vossy and I are doubling down as we head into our fourth consecutive year of the show. But to be able to come to work every morning with one of your good mates, talk NRL and all things sport, and have listeners who are as passionate as ours are – we’re thrilled to be able to do it all again next year.”
Breakfast with Vossy & Brandy returns from 6am, Monday 10 February, 2025.
