After an avalanche of entries from across South Australia, the Generation Fresh 2026 Top 15 have been revealed, as they compete for the chance to host their own weekend radio show on Adelaide’s Fresh 927.
Aspiring radio hosts were invited to submit 30-second videos explaining why they should have their own show on Fresh.
“The response was amazing,” says Fresh 927 Content Director Sean Craig Murphy. “We got a ton of videos from all sorts of people.”
The Top 15 videos are now up on the Fresh website, open for public voting this week.
And to say they’re an interesting mix would be an understatement.
“There’s even one entrant we think might be AI,” says Murphy.
“She doesn’t have a video, just an animated screenshot, but she’s in the Top 15 and will only make it to the Top 10 if she gets enough votes.”
Fresh 927 Breakfast hosts Tom & Callum are convinced it’s a set-up by Murphy, who laughs “I can swear on a stack of Bibles I’ve had nothing to do with it.”
“Beyond that, we’ve got a true crime duo who are polling really well, a pop culture trio who work brilliantly together, and a couple of standout comics.”
Fun fact: most of the finalists are women in their 20s.
Voting closes tomorrow afternoon (Friday, May 15). The votes will then be tallied up to determine the Generation Fresh Top 10.
“Once we have the Top 10, they’ll be introduced live to Tom & Callum’s audience, and we’ve got some fun radio challenges lined up for them,” says Murphy.
“Last year’s winner, Chelsea Barber, had to do a live read while having ping pong balls thrown at her. She nailed it, though we were kind of hoping she’d get flustered for the entertainment value. Still, it made for a great video!”
Next week, the 2026 Generation Fresh judges will be revealed. And just like last year’s judges Ben & Liam, they’re well-known Fresh alumni
Voting closes at 2pm tomorrow (Friday, May 15). The full videos can be viewed on the Fresh website.
