Voting for the Funky Kids Radio Awards closes this Sunday

After the success of the inaugural Funky Kids Radio Global Music Awards, the awards have returned again for 2021 with an even bigger line-up of nominees from around the world.

This year The Funky Kids Radio Global Children’s Entertainment Awards are being conducted in two parts and include three new categories of Album/EP of the Year, Youth Radio/Podcast Show of the Year and Audio Story of the Decade.

Voting has begun for the current round of awards, which included, Artist, Song, Album, Music Video and Animated Music Video of the Year.

The second round of awards for the Youth Radio/Podcast Show of the Year and Audio Story of the Decade will be held later in the year.

The inaugural 2020 Funky Kids Radio Awards saw nominations for 66 artists from across 11 countries and this year the 2021 Awards have attracted nominations for 83 artists from across 13 countries – from Australia and New Zealand to USA, Canada, Africa and all across Europe.

Thousands of votes have already been cast via Facebook and the voting concludes this weekend at 10 pm AEDT Sunday 23rd January.

Finalist for the People’s Choice Awards will be announced at the end of January and a selection committee made up of the School Broadcasting Network’s Youth Ambassadors from Australia, Sri Lanka, UK and Switzerland will also select finalists to submit to the International Panel of Judges who will adjudicate the winners of 4 categories – Song, Album, Music Video and Animated Music Video of the Year 2021.

Artist of the Year for the five chapters of Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Europe will be chosen by popular public vote, with the artist gaining the most votes globally being crowned The Funky Kids Radio Global Artist of the Year 2021.

Nominees for Artist of the Year range from multi award-winning industry professionals like multiple Gold Record producer and children’s entertainer Donikkl from Germany, the ‘Adele’ of the US children’s music industry, Laurie Berkner, and Australia’s own permaculture funk band Formidable Vegetable, to emerging young singer songwriters, 12-year-olds Chloe Walton from Victoria and Ava Anderson, an award-winning songwriter from New York, USA.

All winners will be announced on Valentine’s Day, 14th February and votes can be cast here.
