WA Section 40 licences for sale

Managing Director of Logan Corporation, Graeme Logan has announced that three AM commercial radio licences in WA are up for sale.

The three licences up for immediate sale are:

Kalgoorlie 1611AM,
Geraldton 1620AM, and
Esperance 1611AM.

“This is a rare opportunity to buy radio licences in three of the largest regional cities in Western Australia. The fact that these licences can also be operated as fully commercial radio stations makes them exceptionally good value for money,” said Logan.

All three are Section 40 licences, “meaning that even though they are non-broadcasting services bands (BSB) they have been allocated commercial radio licences by the ABA, and as a result can operate as full commercial licences.”

The allocation of new Section 40 licences was prohibited by a direction to the ACA issued by the Minister for Communication, Information Technology and the Arts in October last year. This has resulted in only a few current holders of these Section 40 licences, with no more to be allocated.

The sale price is A$95,000 for all three licences, although offers will be considered for individual sales.

Logan Corporation is also selling another WA Section 40 licence, Margaret River 1611AM.
