Watch for the trends in tomorrow’s Survey 8 – landing at 9:30 am on radioinfo

As any seasoned radio broadcast professional will tell you: Individual surveys mean little, it’s long-term trends that count.

That said, tomorrow’s GfK Metro Survey 8, the last for 2021, will count for plenty in markets where station rankings change from survey to survey, without a clearly established trend. Take Perth, for example – as shown in radioinfo’s spiffy new trend charts that will be launched for all markets in tomorrow’s survey coverage – it’s been a close-run thing for the top three stations over the past 11 surveys.

While Nova 93.7 can claim top spot more often than the others, they, 96fm and Mix 94.5, are the only ones that have been in the top three on every occasion. And last survey’s results were as close as ever, so anything could happen tomorrow.

Nonetheless, if content directors love nothing more than consistency, then a podium finish in 11 straight surveys is no trend to frown at.

The next group of five stations have battled it out for 4th to 7th place while a trend is pretty well established for the last four stations.

Melbourne also has three stations that consistently take the top three places, although the gap between them is much wider with 3AW the runaway leader, followed by the ABC and GOLD104.3. As of Survey 7, the peloton was led by smooth91.5 followed by NOVA100 and 101.9 FOX FM.

You’ll see it all happen before your very eyes as our new “dancing” charts will take you through the twists and turns of the past twelve surveys for each metro market.

Join us tomorrow morning at 9:30 for all the survey results, cumes, shares, DAB+ and, of course, the all-important spin cycle.

In the meantime, let radioinfo’s Wayne Stamm and his dog demo the new “dancing” charts for you.
