WAVE hello to ‘Kiwi Todd & Wally

WAVE FM Wollongong has launched a new all male Drive Show. It has been confirmed that both presenters of ‘Kiwi Todd & Wally for the Drive Home’ are blokes. The pair will be the first male duo in on Wollongong radio for a long time, giving the market a breath of fresh air and the station a highlighted point of difference.

Both guys have both comedy and extensive radio experience from which to create a well rounded and focused program. Todd Stevens started his career in stand up picking up a nomination for New Zealand’s Best New Comedian. After completing a Broadcasting Degree, he worked as an announcer and producer at some of New Zealand’s top stations.

Wally, better known to the Tax Office as Stephen Walter, has been in radio 13 years, working in various roles within Sydney, Snowy Mountains, Canada and in Tamworth as Content Director. Wally comes with a background in TV Comedy writing and comedy podcasting which generated a monthly audience of 185,000.

Wally, who joined the station from 929 Tamworth says, “The two of us compliment each other due to a shared background. I’m kind of a nerdish family man while Kiwi Todd is an established character in the community who lives a slightly less settled life – works well for WAVE FM’s cross-demographics.”

Todd & Wally are heavy users of social media and online integration providing valued momentum in connecting with listeners, regularly creating 360 degree promotional journeys the public can be directly involved in.

“The entire team shares a modern philosophy in programming, and are early adopters of emerging content generation,” says Wally. “Whilst it’s still early days, I think we’re gaining traction with community awareness and are looking forward to helping to enhance Grant Broadcasters’ brand in the market.”
